To maintain the design aesthetic and the setting presets of your text, I recommend editing the text blocks rather than deleting and uploading new text blocks.
If at any point you want to undo a change you've made. You can utilize the Undo and Redo buttons located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
As you make adjustments to your template, double check both the desktop and mobile views to ensure your changes are displaying properly.
If you wish to change the fonts and sizes of all headings, subheadings, and paragraphs across all pages, you can do so on the Design Settings page. Read more about how to do that here. (PLEASE NOTE: changing these settings will affect the design across your entire template.)
To change the font, size, color, letter spacing, line height, or alignment, select the text box and then click on the "Text Style" tab in the right side panel. There you will see options to change all of the above. To split the text styles between desktop and mobile view, hover over one of the settings and click on the three dots (⋮), then select "Split Mobile & Desktop." To learn how to upload your own custom font, read this article. For more information on text properties, view Showit's help page here.
To add a heading, subheading, or paragraph, select the canvas in which you want to add text. Then hover over "Add Element" and select your preferred text block.
To adjust the size of your text block, select the text block. Click on one of the dots along the perimeter and drag it to your desired position. To move the text block, simply drag and drop it to your desired location.
All the text in your template is fully customizable - from the words you write to the fonts, colors, and sizes. To edit the text, simply click once on the text block, then double click within the text block and add your own words.
While I recommend swapping photos to preserve the layout of your template, you may find that you want to upload additional photos to your template. To do so, hover over "Add Element" and select "Open Media Library" to select (or upload) a new photo.
To change the background image or video on a page canvas, click on the image, then select the "Canvas Background" tab in the right panel. Click on the image preview to open your Media Library and select a new photo or video. If you wish, you can change the background media type to image, video, or none (which will convert the background to a color).
To change the photos within your template, select the image you want to swap. The "Image" module in the right panel will open. Click the "Swap Image" button and you will be taken to your Media Library where you can select a new photo.
The Media Library is where you can find all your images, videos, and PDF's. To upload images to your Media Library, click "Media Library" in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Then select "Upload Files" in the lower left corner of the page.
Most links have already been set for you with the exception of blog post categories. For more information on how to link to category pages, view Showit's tutorial here.
NOTE:
To add or change a link within your template, select the text, button, icon, or image. Then select the "Click Actions" tab in the right panel. Next to "Type", select the drop down menu where you can choose if you would like to link to a page within your website, a URL, your social media, or other. Read more about your link options here.
Updating the photos and links for your portfolio is simple! The process varies depending on your template. Select your template below for a step by step tutorial.
Once you have set up your blog, you can access your WordPress account to create blog posts to feature your photoshoots. Follow these instructions to create a blog post. In the blog post, you will need to write the title of your photoshoot, select a category for the photoshoot (i.e. elopement or family session), write a short excerpt, and upload photos. Once you publish the blog post in WordPress, the gallery page will automatically update on your website.
For the Emmet Lang template, you will share your portfolio of work (aka your gallery) via your blog. Here you will be able to categorize your photoshoots, share a short story about each, and upload your favorite photos.
To add more photos to your portfolio, click on your desired portfolio page, select the "Page" tab in the top left panel, locate which canvas you'd like to duplicate and click on the three dots next to the name, click "Duplicate". A new, duplicated canvas will appear below. Feel free to drag the canvas up or down if you'd like. In the duplicated canvas, swap out the images.
To update the portfolio pages with your own images, simply swap the photos with your own. If you want to add more photos to the page, duplicate the canvas. See how to duplicate the canvas below -
The portfolio in the Lauren Elaine template is divided into 3 categories: Residential, Commercial, & Exteriors. Feel free to rename the categories to whatever you like.
The Natalie McKinney template features a dedicated search page. In order for the page to show properly on your site once live, it needs to be connected to WordPress. Showit integrates with WordPress to give you the robust capabilities of WordPress with the design customization of Showit.
In order to publish your site, you will need a domain. There are many registrars that you can buy a domain from, but Showit recommends GoDaddy and Hover. Once you have purchased a domain, you'll need to connect your domain to your Showit site.
If you have already set up your blog (optional), your domain should already be connected. If you choose not to have a blog, connect your domain following Showit's help guide here.
Congratulations! Your site is now live and it's absolutely beautiful!
Any time you make changes to your website, you'll need to re-publish your site for those changes to go live. Just hit the blue "Publish" button again!
If you have set up your blog (optional) and connected your domain, you're ready to publish your site! Click on the blue "Publish" button on the top right corner of the screen. Read more here.
Before you publish your site, preview it on both mobile and desktop to make sure it's displaying properly. To preview your site, click on the preview button in the top right corner of your screen.
